Gabriel Levitt

Gabriel Levitt is Founder and President of Prescription Justice. He is a longtime advocate for prescription drug affordability and access to medicines, with a particular focus on personal drug importation. A lawyer and member of the New York Bar, Gabe brings more than two decades of policy, advocacy, and research experience to his work on pharmaceutical regulation and patient access. In 2002, Gabe co-founded PharmacyChecker and served as its president until 2023. PharmacyChecker evaluates online pharmacies for safety credentials and compares prescription drug prices, with a particular focus on international pharmacy verification. 

Gabe has testified before Congress on prescription drug affordability and internet freedom and has written extensively on pharmaceutical policy and personal drug importation. His legal and policy writing has appeared in the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School’s The Regulatory Review. 

He has also published articles in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Nation, and The Hill on drug pricing, drug safety, and importation, and contributed a chapter to Hacking Politics about the successful campaign to defeat the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). He convened a workshop at RightsCon on internet access to affordable medicines and has participated in international forums on medicine access and digital rights, including the United Nations Internet Governance Forum.

Gabe is principal of Levitt Public Policy LLC, where he advises governments, nonprofit organizations, and companies on public policy, regulatory issues, advocacy, and research. He is President Emeritus of the United Nations Association Brooklyn Chapter, which he led as president from 2009 to 2016.

Gabe earned his J.D., cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School, where he served as Senior Staff of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. He holds a master’s degree in International Relations from American University and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Political Science from Roger Williams University. He also holds governance and financial interests in a private company exploring international distribution models intended to improve the safety and affordability of prescription medicines.
